Universal Joints is an all metal coupling between 2 Shafts, allowing for radial and axial misalignment and simultaneously transmitting torque, even at variable speeds. These couplings have the ability to transmit power even at high working angles ( upto 45 °)in a minimal amount of space Originally claimed to have been designed by an Italian mathematician-Geronimo Cardano ( the British declaring that Hooke had designed this, earlier). Hence, also known as Cardon Shafts/Hooke’s Joints . In earlier designs, this joint appeared to have the construction of balls and was known as Ball Joint ,also. THE PRINCIPLE - ETP Keyless Bushes

ETP bushes consist of a thin walled cylinder filled by a 'medium'. When this medium is pressurised, they tend to expand the thin walled cylinders and grip both the shaft and the component at the same time. Blaise Pascal's theory - put into practice. Using this simple principle, ETP launched Classic Bushes, then the ETP Classic in Stainless Steel - ETP Mini was introduced to cater to small shaft diameters, from 6 to 14mm. Later ETP HYLOC for heavy duty applications was followed by ETP TECHNO, which provided very high concentricity (needed in certain applications - upto 6 micron runout. The ETP range offers :
